Stone Bicycle Coalition

Free ยท iPhone and iPad

Ride the Black Hills with the co-op in your pocket.

I built this app for the Stone Bicycle Coalition, the bike co-op in Rapid City. Good routes, a ride recorder you can read at speed, and a radio for your group. Free. No account.

In beta on TestFlight iOS 26 or later

What it does

Built for riding here

Most ride apps are made for somewhere else. This one starts with the gravel, road and trail rides people around here actually do.

Routes

  • 58 curated rides, most of them in the Black Hills
  • Maps, elevation profiles and turn-by-turn directions with voice
  • Offline topo maps for when the signal drops
  • Weather, points of interest and Forest Service closure checks
  • Bring your own GPX file

Ride recorder

  • A big, plain screen you can read on the handlebar
  • Live elevation and what's coming up on the route
  • Recovers your ride if the app gets closed
  • Warns you if it thinks you're in a car
  • Live Activity on the lock screen; ride stats on Apple Watch

Your rides

  • History, stats, goals and training load
  • Journals with photos for longer trips
  • Time trials on the local routes
  • Export to GPX, FIT, TCX or KML
  • Reads from and writes to Apple Health

Rally Radio

  • Push-to-talk voice for your riding group
  • Phone to phone, no cell service or server needed
  • Join with a shared ride code
  • Location sharing is off unless you turn it on

Privacy

No account. No tracking.

There's no sign-up and no analytics in the app. Your rides stay on your phone unless you export them.

  • The app downloads public maps, weather and co-op news. It doesn't upload your rides anywhere.
  • The Forest Service closure check sends only the map area of the route, and only when you tap it.
  • Rally Radio talks phone to phone. Nothing goes through a server.

Beta

It's a beta. Some of it is rough.

The beta runs through Apple's TestFlight app. Install TestFlight, tap the link, and you're in. If something breaks on a ride, tell me. That's the point of a beta.

  • Needs iOS 26 or later on iPhone or iPad.
  • The Apple Watch app shows ride stats. Radio on the watch isn't built yet.
  • Android is behind the iPhone version and isn't in this beta.

Take it on your next ride

Join the beta, then come by the co-op. Questions about the app come straight to me.
